State of Being:
“Let me tell you something you already know; the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently, if you let it! You, me… nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But, it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward... how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done. Now, if you know what you’re worth, then go out and get what you’re worth, but you gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you want to be because of him or her or anybody. Cowards do that and that ain’t you. You’re better than that!”
- Rocky Balboa

That about says it all for today. It was a rough day but I stayed focused and pushed through. I’m feeling a little better now.

Earlier today I hit the Wall again. Really hard. This time it was a heaping serving of depression and some migraine headaches on waking this morning. They were so bad, I had blind spots in my vision for a while.

But, I got out in front of it right away, grabbed my weights and worked through it. I even doubled my typical workout load, just to show the Wall that it neither scared nor impressed me.

It was hard, but it was absolutely worth it to show myself that I could hit the wall,… then pick myself up, dust myself off, put my shoulder down and knock the wall over for daring to get in my way.

This evening, as I sit here… my headaches are gone and my mood has elevated back up to a healthy state. I’m really tired, but I came out on top today and for that I’m happy and grateful.

I want to make something very clear; In spite of being a very hard day, this has been the best day I’ve had since I started this journey.

If that doesn’t make sense to you, let me just assure you that the only thing better than *not hitting the wall* is *hitting the wall BACK, once it’s hit you,* and watching it crumble to dust at your feet.

You won’t always come out on top, when days like today happen. But, the simple act of getting back up, rather than laying there defeated, means that you won.

Never.
Never.
Never…
Give up.
